The Fall/Winter 2020 edition includes all the details you need for gorgeous maternity & in-home newborn photo sessions!
One of my favorite parts of welcoming a new client is sending the latest version of my Celebrate Motherhood magazine! There is so much to love about it:
- the magazine is really pretty, even if I do say so myself!
- it’s full of tips and suggestions intended to help couples feel totally prepared for their photo sessions – before we ever meet!
- pretty much every question you could ever have about maternity & newborn photos is answered inside the magazine!
I’ve just released the Fall/Winter 2020 edition, and I added even more information and photos of real mamas, newborns and families. All of my current clients get access to the updated digital version and the feedback so far has been amazing!
The basics: what’s included
Celebrate Motherhood magazine is split into five sections: The Maternity Experience, The In-Home Newborn Experience, Baby & family minis, Keepsakes and Motherhood Must-haves.
The Maternity Experience and The In-home Newborn Experience walk you through every aspect of these gorgeous sessions, including timelines, wardrobe suggestions for everyone, sample gowns from my client closet, posing guidance, how I work with your older child(ren) and more.
The Baby & family minis section features a timeline of when you’ll schedule each sweet session with me, along with when you can expect your sneak peek, full photo gallery delivery and more.
Motherhood Must-haves includes helpful advice for truly enjoying your photo sessions, along with contact information for pregnancy- and baby-related professionals I collaborate with, including doulas, midwives and a licensed prenatal yoga instructor/massage therapist. You’ll also find lists of my favorite motherhood-related books, podcasts and more!
All throughout the magazine you’ll see stunning mamas, couples, babies and families from recent photo sessions. You’ll see why I make the suggestions that I do about clothing, hair/makeup, footwear, etc. Whether you learn by reading info or looking at photos, if you follow the tips inside Celebrate Motherhood, you’re going to LOVE your photos – and enjoy your session so much more!
What’s new for the latest edition
My goal for every photo session is for mamas and their husbands to feel great and genuinely enjoy the process of making these memories. I also know that most of us aren’t totally comfortable in front of the camera (including me!).
I’m super excited about two new sections intended to keep nervousness at bay: posing guidance for maternity and newborn sessions!
In these sections, I’ve included photos from recent client sessions, along with brief, simple descriptions about how they’re posed. Not to worry – you absolutely don’t have to memorize this information! The purpose is to inform you about how I work so you’ll know what to expect.
Couples posing for maternity sessions
There’s quite a bit that goes into not only taking pretty photos, but also ensuring couples have a wonderful time during their sessions.
That’s why I’ve included sample posing prompts and photos for couples maternity posing! While each pose is pretty simple, there are a million ways to make slight adjustments that make a big difference in your images. If you spend a few minutes looking at the sample photos and brief descriptions, you’ll already know what to do during your session. This always helps cut down on those pre-session butterflies and nervousness!
Posing for mamas
In addition to couples maternity posing, I’ve also added a new section with simple directions and photo examples of poses for expectant mamas.
Aside from how I pose mamas, this section also highlights why I LOVE longer-length dresses for maternity photos. If you’re on the fence about going with a long dress or gown, this page will show you why there’s really only one option for gorgeous images!
Gentle posing guidance for newborn sessions + how I work with siblings
In general, clients are less nervous before an in-home newborn session; instead, this is usually a crazy morning trying to get ready while taking care of a newborn.
That’s why the advice I share in this section is geared toward helping new parents relax and enjoy this time of bonding with their newborn.
I’ve outlined how I photograph families, parents together with baby and parents separately with a newborn in the updated edition of Celebrate Motherhood. In addition, there is also a new section with instructions for parents of big kids or toddlers, and how we’ll safely photograph kids with baby.
Feeding suggestions for the day of your session
First-time parents have so much to learn right away; feeding, soothing, swaddling, bathing and otherwise caring for a newborn is brand new territory for most of us!
One thing my clients don’t have to worry about is how and when to feed baby before their sessions; it’s all outlined in the magazine. I’ve also included a list of foods that can make brand new babies gassy so that mama knows what to avoid if she is nursing.
Keepsakes
Lastly, you’ll find a new section on Keepsakes like heirloom photo albums, high quality prints, grandparent albums and more. There are extensive product descriptions and photos included. I also explain why professional print labs that work exclusively with photographers are the best place to order your Keepsakes!
More must-have info for maternity & in-home newborn photo sessions
The first edition of Celebrate Motherhood helped dozens of beautiful mamas beautifully celebrate their pregnancies and babies! The best, most useful information is still there!
I’ve poured years of experience – and hundreds of hours! – into making this magazine the best resource out there for clients who want beautiful photos.
Why I’ll always offer Celebrate Motherhood to my clients
Your maternity and newborn sessions shouldn’t be events that you’re dreading or anxious about! The hundreds of clients I’ve photographed over the years love how prepared they are before their photo sessions.
I’ll always offer this valuable education to the families I photograph because:
- My clients don’t waste valuable time going through endless Pinterest boards for wardrobe advice that guarantees beautiful photos.
- My couples arrive at their maternity photo sessions fully informed about what the entire session will be like – and this means they’re not nervous at all!
- Tired new mamas aren’t frantically searching their inboxes for that one email with info about what baby should wear for photos.
- Second- or third-time parents don’t stress over how we’ll get their older child(ren) to engage with baby during the session.
You deserve an easy, beautiful experience to celebrate the beauty of motherhood! If you’re ready to discuss your own magical maternity and newborn sessions, tell me when you’re due!
Photographer’s note: wondering why some of the text isn’t visible in the images above? It’s because I don’t want to give away all of my info here! Rest assured that your copy of Celebrate Motherhood will include all of the information you need for a gorgeous, stress-free session.
