First-time mama Trisha is stunning in this amazing maternity photo session at The Glass House!
Trisha and Tucker are expecting their first baby, and this first-time mama couldn’t wait to plan an elegant, glamorous maternity session in The Woodlands, TX.
I absolutely adore working with mamas like Trisha – she was so excited to be pregnant and wanted to make the most of her perfect baby bump for her maternity photo session. Her perfectly applied makeup, romantic curls and two beautiful gowns look absolutely amazing against the backdrop of The Glass House.
Embracing the beauty of motherhood
Trisha knew exactly where she wanted to have her maternity photos taken on the day she booked maternity and at-home newborn photos with me. She had seen Chandler and Maddie’s stunning photos at The Glass House in July, and knew it was the perfect place to celebrate the upcoming arrival of her son! The day she booked her photos was the same day we scheduled her session at The Glass House!
Who can blame her – The Glass House is such a unique, memorable spot for photos! With its 17-foot clear glass ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows on all four sides, what’s not to love?! The light is always amazing, the space is breathtaking – and mamas-to-be like Trisha can’t help but feel like royalty in such a beautiful place!
We chatted before her session about what to wear, and Trisha knew she wanted to enhance her basketball baby bump with long dresses in shades that would highlight her creamy skin and bright green eyes. She settled on the Andi rosy champagne velvet wrap dress from Baltic Born and a soft green floor-length dress and nude heels.
On the day of her session, Trisha showed up with the most perfectly applied makeup I’ve ever seen; I just assumed she’d had it done by a professional makeup artist and asked who she used. It’s not easy to get such a natural, flawless look, yet this mama made it look easy – and she did it all herself!
Even if you don’t usually wear makeup regularly, you’ll definitely want to for maternity photos. These are memories you and your family will look back on for the rest of your lives – and that calls for pampering yourself with a lovely wardrobe and hair+makeup fit for a queen. Not all of your photos will be close-ups, but we’ll definitely make the most of your mama-to-be glow, which you’ll want to enhance with flattering makeup. I recommend a crazy talented team of hair stylists and makeup artists who will come to you; I’ve never had a client unhappy with their hair and makeup when they go with the ladies I love!
I’ve had a couple of clients over the years opt for little-to-no-makeup for these photos, and while they’re thankful for the memories, they always wish they would have taken even just a few moments for powder, mascara and lipgloss. You’d be amazed at the difference in photos between mamas without makeup and professionally applied makeup.
Romantic moments with a baby bump
Most couples assume that maternity photos are all about baby – but that’s actually not the focus of my sessions! While we absolutely highlight your baby on the way in every photo, I actually prefer to call more attention to the couple.
The thing is, once baby arrives, he or she will steal the spotlight forever. Every photo session you schedule from now on will focus primarily on your child; that’s why this one is mostly about the two of you. After all, this is where your family begins.
That’s why you’ll always get a romantic vibe from my couples maternity sessions. The session itself feels a like a date night – you’re both all dressed up in beautiful clothing that makes you feel amazing, at a peaceful, gorgeous location that fits your vision for the perfect session.
In every photo together, you and your spouse will be snuggled together, holding hands or sharing a quick kiss. For the solo photos of mama, I’ll walk you through exactly how to stand, how to hold your bump, where to look and when to smile for the most flattering photos of you and your bump.
Indoor & outdoor portraits at The Glass House
A reservation is required at The Glass House, which guarantees a private, peaceful experience. Whether clients want all indoor photos or to mix it up with some outdoor shots, you don’t have to worry about having an audience at this location.
Trisha and Tucker wanted a photo gallery full of variety, which we maximized by shooting both inside and outside the house, as well as making time for Trisha to change dresses halfway through the session.
One aspect of The Glass House that I love as a photographer is how it’s easy to use every inch of the indoor space, as well as the lovely outdoor area, without wasting much time walking around. In fact, most photo galleries that I photograph here feature around 100 images because we don’t waste much time getting from place to place. There are also no worries about crowds or people in the background because we have exclusive use of the property.
The outdoor space features a green space that is well-maintained, while still giving off a very natural vibe. In fact, it’s pretty common to spot deer or rabbits in the grass, especially during sunset sessions!
An hour-long session & unforgettable memories
Trust me when I say these hour-long maternity sessions fly by, and we even have time for up to one outfit change while still making the most of your entire wardrobe. I build in time for a few breaks so mama can get off her feet for a few moments, too. The session is pretty evenly split between couples and solo mama shots; I take both kinds of photos indoors and outside so that you have plenty of lovely images to choose from.
Because the ceiling is made of windows, along with every wall of the house, the marble floors beautifully reflect bright while light into your face, making these the most flattering portraits you’ll ever have taken! I’ve photographed at this location on sunny days and cloudy days, in every season, and my clients always look stunning because you can’t ask for better access to natural light while technically inside.
