Celebrating the sweetest family of five in The Woodlands, Texas, with an in-home newborn session!
When you have young kids, it’s not uncommon for them to ask for a new sibling.
In fact, my own girls have asked a few times for another baby, and my answer is always the same: “our family is happily complete with three girls!”
But Amanda’s oldest daughter, Amelia, who is the sweetest six-year-old with the biggest, happiest smile, did more than just ask her mama for another sibling.
She prayed for months for God to bless her family with another baby.
His answer was yes, and the Voigt family was overjoyed to welcome baby Teddy, the answer to his sister’s prayers and the longing in his mama’s heart. This gorgeous newborn photography session in The Woodlands, Texas, celebrates Teddy and the family who loves him so!
“For this child I have prayed…”
I met Amanda when last fall when I started a new Bible study through our church. Not far into the fall semester, she shared that precious story about her oldest daughter praying for another baby. When she announced she was pregnant, everyone in our group was so happy for her.
Teddy arrived on March 25, 2019, weighing 6 lbs, 3 oz. Big sisters Amelia and Eloise are just crazy about this little man! I watched them squabble like sisters do about who got to kiss him on top of the head, and there was a very serious conversation about who got to sit next to his head and who had to settle for being next to his little bum while his dad held him for photos!
Amelia and Eloise are just a little bit older than my girls, and they reminded me so much of my own daughters. It’s amazing to watch the fierce way siblings love each other, and how protective they are over baby brother. Amelia couldn’t wait to show me how she cuddles with Teddy on the couch, and sweet Eloise is so adorably serious about using the hand sanitizer before touching her brother. You can just tell these three are going to be the best of friends from now on.
Sweet sisters in pink!
My best advice as a newborn photographer before every single photo session ever is to dress the entire family in neutral solids – and you can see why in these incredibly beautiful photos!
Big sisters are precious in identical pink dresses, which are the perfect contrast to Teddy’s green swaddle. I loved Amanda’s light green dress, especially along with the swaddle, and proud dad Luke looked great in a white shirt and navy shorts.
Their sweet in-home newborn session started in their gorgeous living room, full of bright sunlight and a neutral palette with pops of color. I snapped a couple sweet shots of the kids cuddled on the bed together, and then we moved upstairs into Teddy’s nursery. Amanda did such an amazing job of creating a peaceful, sweet place for her son; there are so many personal touches in his room.
Tiny Teddy in the Moses basket
We wrapped up with this sweet guy swaddled in the Moses basket – and Amanda even snapped a picture of her son there! I always invite mamas to snap a photo with my camera here. Pretty much all of them have been surprised at how heavy my camera is!
This is always a great way to wrap up a newborn session because there is nothing more irresistible than a baby swaddled in a basket!
I know Amanda is soaking up these priceless moments with all of her babies. It was such a joy to capture these memories for this sweet family of five.
