Every parent goes nuts taking photos of their new tiny love! Especially if it’s not your first baby, you know how quickly newborns change into babies. Those early days are hard (hello, 27 cups of coffee per day!), but they are over so soon. Here are a few tips for taking photos of your infant:
Position your camera directly above baby and pointing slightly down toward her feet.
This will keep you from taking endless “up the nose” photos where you can see the inside of baby’s nostrils. Sure, when it’s your baby, even their tiny nostrils are adorable! However, your photos will look a little more polished and flattering if you shoot from above.

Those long eyelashes, tiny fingers and toes, that perfect button nose… capture it all before your little bundle grows into a big kid!
Take a step back and include more of baby’s surroundings.
Maybe this means getting a photo of baby in the crib or swaddled in a blanket on your bed. Capturing baby’s environment will help show how small they are at this stage, and it captures more of what your daily life is like.
You don’t need tons of props.
In the photo above, baby is swaddled and her little hand is gently curled around her parent’s wedding rings. So precious, yet so simple.
