Celebrating a family photo session with newborn twins in The Woodlands, Texas!
I think a lot of moms who have only known one baby at a time wonder what life would be like with twins.
Pregnancy was challenging enough for me with just one tiny bun in the oven each time. My youngest is nearing 2 and I can still remember the weight of her as my due date inched closer – it felt like she weighed 20 pounds on some days. How could something so tiny take up so much space and feel so heavy?
This means so much of Bethany’s everyday reality makes her Superwoman (naturally, she’s got a superhero hubby to help, too!). When I think back to the newborn stage and imagine double everything – diapers, nursing, laundry – I have an entirely new appreciation for parents of multiples! And while we all know that newborns require a lot of work, there’s also double the cuddles and twice the exciting milestones.
She may have her hands full with the work of motherhood, but what an incredible blessing to raise these twins as the best and closest of friends! Even better, her newborns have two big brothers to help them learn and grow.
This family photography session with newborn twins in The Woodlands, Texas was such a lovely celebration of this party of six. I adore the sweet simplicity of newborns in white onesies and Arabella’s tiny white headband. I’m pretty sure all mamas of baby girls have this same set of newborn headbands, with super soft elastic and a tiny flower that doesn’t distract from baby. {You can get them at Target, and possibly other places too.}
Older siblings Micah and Logan proudly wore their Big Brother shirts, another precious detail of their newborn family photo session. I brought Shark & Dinosaur fruit snacks as a yummy incentive for the boys to show me their best smiles. And just look at those adorable grins! This mama and dad have so much to be proud of!

So what’s the secret to beautiful newborn portraits that you’ll be thrilled to hang on your walls? Simple! Bethany and Lee wearing neutral tones is what really makes these photos shine. Here’s the reason why: you’re not distracted by what mom and dad are wearing, and their clothing choices flatter their own skin tones, as well as the twins.
That may sound too simple to be true, but your clothing choices have a huge impact on any photo session – especially when you add in delicate newborn skin! Imagine if Bethany had worn a bold red and black striped maxi dress, with Lee in camo shorts and a plaid shirt.
Eeeeek, right?
Recklessly mixing patterns and color palettes is a recipe for disaster! You won’t know what to look at first – at all of the prints and patterns… or at those sweet babies! That’s definitely not the result you want after your newborn photography session!
This is why I provide clients with a 45+ page style guide that is filled with what-to-wear advice + photos + sample color palettes + where to shop suggestions. Lots of mamas text photos of outfits for themselves and their families before a photo session and ask what would look best, and I’m more than happy to help! It cuts down on the nervousness we all have before a photo session, and it guarantees mama is confident that her family looks great.
A luxury photo experience where you don’t have to worry about anything – what to wear, how to prep your home for photos, how to display your photos once they’re ready – is the only way to schedule a family session with newborn twins! After all, you’ve got your hands full, either preparing or caring for a sweet baby. Let me handle everything else!
Let’s celebrate the beauty of motherhood together, just like Bethany.
