“Motherhood is the greatest thing and the hardest thing.” – Ricki Lake
Learning the ups and downs of being a mama begins with pregnancy. Lauren is heading into the final stretch with baby Chloe, with just eight weeks to go. She’s got most of the big baby essentials, and with her baby shower coming up, she’s likely about to receive more tiny pink clothes than she’s ever seen! That’s definitely how it was for me and my husband – there was no need to buy clothes for our first daughter until after she turned one. Her closet was fully stocked with precious little outfits before she even arrived!

Lauren’s maternity photo session in The Woodlands marks the second time I’ve photographed a pregnant mama in black – and I am just loving the dramatic change from the typical soft earth tones I usually see. The weather didn’t cooperate with our plans for a nature-themed session, but Market Street suited Lauren so well, with her perfect Little Black Dress and floral wrap.

Her floral wrap gave us the perfect opportunity to change up some of her photos by removing it and playing up those gorgeous pregnancy curves. Layering is possible even in this hot, humid Houston weather and it adds so much versatility to photo sessions. Plus, some mamas like a little more coverage on their arms, and light wraps like this are the perfect choice!
Lauren could easily pair her floral wrap with a black nursing cami for stylish, easy Fresh 48 or lifestyle newborn photos! That’s something to keep in mind when you’re shopping for outfits for your maternity session – could you carry over any pieces into another session? If so, do it!

Are you looking for a maternity or newborn photographer? If so, I’d love to meet you and learn more about you! I love celebrating motherhood with new mamas!
