This stunning heirloom album will be shared with generations of Alexis’s family
By far my most popular Keepsake is the fine art heirloom album! Virtually all of my clients order one to keep their sweetest memories all in one gorgeous place.
Just this week I delivered Alexis’ heirloom album that includes images from her maternity & newborn sessions. She and her partner, Gerrod, just welcomed their first baby girl. Alexis wanted to celebrate her images both now and decades down the road, so an heirloom album made perfect sense. These handcrafted books are the best way to pass down special memories through generations!
I wanted to share a peek inside the album Alexis ordered to help other families see just how lovely these books are. I think you’ll agree that this is one investment you’ll be forever thankful to have.
Why every mama loves heirloom albums
I always encourage families to consider an heirloom album because they’re absolutely gorgeous and you get every penny out of your investment with these books.
I design the album for you, taking the stress out of making your own photo book. So many mamas have the best of intentions with their maternity and newborn photos; they plan to make photo albums for themselves and family members for gifts right after the session. But the adjustment to new motherhood – even if this isn’t your first pregnancy – is a big one! Between the demands of caring for a baby, healing from delivery and adjusting to less sleep than you need… creating a photo album falls pretty low on your priority list!
That’s why I handle the design for my clients. These fine art albums include one photo per page, and I vary the design along the way to space out color and black & white images. I also take care with the order in which your images appear to tell a visual story of your newly expanded family.
But the best part is, it’s all customizable! This means you can tell me how you want the book arranged, which linen cover color you prefer, exactly which image you want featured on the cover, and even how many pages are included.
I design your album, send you a proof via email, and we can be done there if you want. Or, we can keep customizing, adding photos or pages or changing up the order, until you’re totally satisfied and dying to have the heirloom album in your hands.
Let’s talk investment
I tested out a number of labs before selecting a vendor I absolutely love for these albums. In fact, I love this particular lab so much that they handle all of my personal photo projects as well, including albums for my family and loved ones!
The quality of these heirloom albums is amazing, and they’re created to be handed down through generations. When your sweet baby is starting a family of her own, this book will be there for you to recall your own days of new motherhood. The thick pages and linen cover establish your legacy as a family and will forever tell the story of the first days with your baby.
Sure, you could always rely on one of those free photo albums where you just pay shipping for the entire thing. But you know why I don’t do that (even though I love deals and saving money!)? It’s because I want this to be an investment that lasts.
Before I was a photographer, I made tons of those cheap photo books for myself. Most of them are falling apart now because the glue has degraded and the pages don’t stay together any longer. I can’t leave those books out on my coffee table because they’re in such bad shape!
Most of those cheap books are printed using a printer that’s not much better quality than what you have at home – it’s just larger to accomodate a high volume of pages. But there’s a reason we send our photos off to be printed, right? It’s because we want quality better than what we could get at home.
If it’s a free photo book, you’re not getting quality. It’s a simply made product that gets the job done, but it won’t last very long.
The labs I work with cater exclusively to pro photographers. That means more time, care and attention goes into all of their projects because they’re not high-volume shops that churn out millions of photo books a day. You don’t want your memories to be one of millions in a lab!
Getting the most from your heirloom album
If you’ve shopped around with other photographers, you’ve probably seen some scary price tags for heirloom albums! There are many factors that go into the high prices that I won’t go into here.
Bottom line, I don’t know anyone who spends $1,000 on a maternity & newborn photo album. My husband and I certainly haven’t with our girls, and I don’t expect my clients to do so either.
Yes, heirloom albums will be more expensive than cheap photo books. The quality and longevity between a handcrafted album and a cheap, mass-produced photo book couldn’t be more different.
My heirloom albums are affordably priced for the investment – and the corresponding high-resolution digital images are included, too! So when you purchase an album, you get those images you love, all for one price.
I love that the mamas I have designed albums for are planning to gift these books to their grown children some day. I would love to have those kinds of memories from my mom! Can you imagine how special it will be for your child to have pictures of what life looks like right now – while you’re pregnant or caring for them as a brand new baby?!
I’ve got studio samples of these albums for mamas to browse so that you can see and feel the quality of the books before you order. I am confident that you’ll love your fine art heirloom album just like all my other clients have!
But first things first – let’s get your maternity or newborn session scheduled and then we’ll chat about Keepsakes like the fine art heirloom album! All you have to do is tell me when you’re due and I’ll take it from there!
