New mama Alix creates a precious Star Wars themed nursery in The Woodlands for baby Leo
One of my favorite parts of in-home newborn photography sessions is seeing baby’s nursery. Leo’s Star Wars themed nursery in The Woodlands, Texas did not disappoint – it’s amazing!
Alix’s mom gave me a tour of the home while Alix and her husband, Chris, were getting ready. Her mother had recently retired from a career in advertising as a creative director, and Grandma’s artistic skills were put to incredible use in Leo’s Star Wars nursery!
An incredible Star Wars themed room for Leo
Alix and Chris are big fans of the Star Wars franchise and they aren’t wasting any time introducing Leo to their favorite movies. The wall behind his crib is painted with chalkboard paint, where Leo’s Grandma hand-lettered “The Force Is Strong with This One” along with an iconic light saber.
The rest of the room is painted a soft, soothing gray, with other elements from the movie included, like character dolls and framed drawings on the wall. There are space-themed balloons hanging in the corners of Leo’s nursery, along with adorable crib sheets, too. A cool rug completes the room and pulls the entire look together.

The sweetest family of three
Alix contacted me a few days after Leo’s arrival to set up his in-home newborn photography session. She and Chris wanted to forever freeze their first few days at home with their son. This relaxed newborn portrait session was full of cuddles and snuggles with Leo!
We kicked off the photos with Alix in a cute pink dress that looked beautiful with her curled hair and soft makeup. Dad Chris wore a gray long sleeved shirt and jeans, which was the perfect casual look for Leo’s photos.
Soft neutrals like Alix’s dress and Chris’ shirt are great choices for newborn sessions because they flatter each person’s skin tone – including little Leo’s! Solid colors are also good choices for keeping the focus on the star of the show, their adorable new baby.
Radiant in ivory
Alix changed into my signature ivory gown from my client closet for a portion of her session. I just love how the light flows over her and her son in this series of photos in her living room. This ivory gown offers a feminine, ethereal vibe to Alix’s sweet newborn photography session.
We chose this room for the majority of Leo’s at-home photo session because the light there was so lovely; the neutral paint and furniture perfectly complemented this family’s session.
A new adventure begins
With her husband back at work, Alix is spending her days snuggled with baby Leo, watching as her changes a little each day. Her gorgeous newborn session will forever freeze these wonderful early days with her newborn son. Welcome to motherhood, Alix!
