Initially when Bethany contacted me about photographing her Fresh 48 session in The Woodlands, TX to celebrate the upcoming birth of her twins, I didn’t know she had two little boys at home. The closer we got to her due date, I would find myself periodically thinking about her and wondering what it would be like to bring home not just one baby, but two, as a brand new mom.
Then she mentioned having two sweet little guys at home already, and I was a little relieved for her – after all, motherhood usually doesn’t feel so overwhelming and new the second or third time around.
The Fresh 48 session for twins Cade and Arabella at CHI St. Luke’s in The Woodlands was calm and quiet, with Bethany and her husband, Lee, working together with such ease and harmony that two babies didn’t look any harder than having one.
The best part is, not only did this sweet family welcome two happy, healthy, beautiful babies, but they were blessed with another precious boy – and a little princess! With Arabella’s arrival, Bethany and Lee have a daughter to spoil, along with her three sons.
I think it’s amazing how you can learn so much about babies right after birth. The twins were barely 24 hours old for their first ever photo session. When they were laying in the hospital bassinet together, Arabella and Cade slept peacefully facing each other, with their hands up near their faces. They were born with a built-in best friend!
A key component of a beautiful Fresh 48 session like this one is for mom and dad to wear colors that flatter baby’s delicate skin. Neutral, earth-toned shirts work so well. It’s also best to avoid bold patterns, prints and logos so that nothing distracts from your newborn. This mama and dad did a perfect job of picking clothing for themselves that complemented those adorable babies!
The twins are dressed in precious identical outfits, which worked perfectly. I love simplicity in newborn photo sessions because it keeps the emphasis and attention on the baby. It also helps that these clothes were practical too – the onesies had three simple snaps and the little pants were easy to pull on. Newborns don’t like to be messed with – they just want to be cuddled and warm! – so fussy outfits with complicated buttons or snaps aren’t the best choice.
No doubt this sweet family of six is thrilled to be at home, adjusting to life with three little boys and one girl!
