Celebrating a sweet baby girl on her way, Texas A&M class of 2043!
This maternity photo session is already my favorite one of 2021!
Jenny emailed me early this year about scheduling maternity and in-home newborn photography sessions to celebrate her first baby, a precious little girl. Shortly after we started working together, she shared with me that her husband graduated from Texas A&M in 2016 and loves absolutely everything A&M related. She said they’d love my opinion on how to incorporate an Aggie theme into their daughter’s photos.

As a former Texas Aggie myself, I was thrilled to hear dad-to-be Jared is a huge Aggie – so I crossed my fingers and asked if they’d be up for a maternity session on the TAMU campus.
Luckily, Jenny and Jared were just as excited as I was to meet in College Station and celebrate their daugher at the best university in the world!
George Bush Library & Grounds
College Station has changed so much since I graduated from Texas A&M in 2006, but it’s amazing how campus still feels like home. The evening of Jenny and Jared’s session was absolutely beautiful, with cool weather and a cloudless blue sky.
We kicked off their maternity photo session at George Bush Library, which is a peaceful spot not too far from main campus. We spent some time photographing outside the library itself, and then worked our way around the beautiful grounds and pathways.
Our plan after the library was to meet up at the teaching gardens on the west side of campus, but that area hadn’t recovered well from the big freeze we had in February. I don’t like changing plans on clients at the last minute, but I knew Jenny and Jared wouldn’t be very happy with photos at the gardens.
Instead, I suggested we go to main campus, near the academic building, and make some lovely memories in that area. To my surprise and delight, Jared was actually thrilled at our change in plans, as that particular part of campus was one of his favorites from his days as a student!
Military Walk, the Academic Building and the Century Tree
Jared’s family has a long legacy at Texas A&M, and Military Walk on the north side of campus is one of his most favorite places. While their photos from the Bush Library are beautiful, the images from main campus are my favorites because of Jared’s sentimental connection to this spot.
I love when clients ask to meet at a place that is special to them for maternity photos; it adds such a personal touch to the session and the images. Of course Jared and Jenny are hoping their baby girl will be walking these same paths one day as a student at A&M!
This series of images included couples shots at Military Walk, as well as under the Century Tree. We wrapped up our evening with beautiful mama-only shots under the archway of the academic building.
Up next: an in-home newborn photo session with baby girl!
Although Jenny’s due date isn’t until April 20, I happened to hear from Jared last night that she was at they were at the hospital waiting on their daughter’s birth about a week early! I can’t wait to learn what name they’ve picked out for their daughter. Their sweet Aggie-themed in-home newborn session will be featured here soon!
