Celebrating the beauty of motherhood with lovely mamas & precious babies all year long!
Every year when I review my favorite sessions from the previous 12 months, I’m amazed at how all of them feel so recent. Even if it’s been almost a year since I’ve seen a particular family, it seems like I shot the photos just yesterday.
I’ve compiled my most favorite moments from 2019 clients. Each of these beautiful moments perfectly capture motherhood, with its joys, challenges, tears, smiles, sacrifices and never-ending love.
Maternity photography – Alexis
A few days before her mini maternity photography session in The Woodlands, Alexis texted me a photo of her dress and asked if I thought it would work. I knew immediately that it would be absolutely perfect for the location we agreed upon. I also knew this had to be PinkBlush maternity dress! PinkBlush makes incredibly flattering clothing for expectant mamas and they have so many options that are a great choice for photos.
What makes Alexis’ session shine is how her mom and sister knew just how to bring out beautiful smiles and laughter from this sweet mama-to-be. You can see love shining in her eyes in practically every photo.
I was also thankful for how Alexis trusted me to make her look and feel beautiful during her December session. She wasn’t afraid to try a variety of poses to get a varied, lovely photo gallery. I loved the photo of her walking through the grass (photo #4 in the series above) and how we caught movement in her dress from a rare Houston breeze.
In January, I’ll get to meet her daughter and capture more precious moments for this (soon-to-be!) family of three.
Fresh 48 photography – Susan
I’ll always have the happiest memory of this Fresh 48 session featuring my sweet friend Susan and her family. We have been friends for a long time and I’ve always known her deep longing for another baby.
She shared with me late last year that she and her husband had decided to adopt. Susan said hoped I’d be available for a Fresh 48 photography session if their baby was a newborn. I promised her nothing would keep me from photographing these incredible memories whenever the time came.
Her second son Hudson was born in March and I was so fortunate to be there when her oldest son and mother met him. There was so much joy and emotion in the room that it was hard for me to focus on photographing the moment! You can see the pure happiness in all of these images. Hudson is at home with his forever family, and I don’t know who is more overjoyed and blessed: Hudson or his mama.
From a professional perspective, this session was interesting because it’s not a traditional Fresh 48. We had to get special permission from the adoption agency for me to take the photos, and there were a few extra guidelines to follow so that the birth mother could maintain her privacy. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the biological parents as the session was strictly limited to Susan and her family.
I think all adoptive parents should invest in a Fresh 48 photography session if they are meeting a newborn. There are so many moments to capture that are identical to traditional Fresh 48 sessions: the joy of new parenthood, the preciousness of a brand new baby, the unforgettable, tear-filled moments when siblings meet the first time.
In-home newborn photography – Amanda
Like Susan, Amanda knew the pain of longing for another baby. She and her family of four could not have been happier to welcome Teddy in early 2019! He is the third baby for this sweet family that already included two adorable little girls, Amelia and Eloise.
Not only is this family simply beautiful, but their home is, too! Amanda is such a great mama to her babies, as well as an incredible home decorator. Their photo session and home feature soft neutrals and endless natural light. Of all the in-home newborn sessions I photographed in 2019, I loved this family’s entire wardrobe the most. It’s also so obvious how much these sweet kiddos are loved!
Family photography – Megan

I photographed that adorable baby girl’s newborn session in 2018! We had planned to shoot Megan’s maternity session in October 2018, but Tillie made a surprise early arrival at 34 weeks. I swapped out the maternity photos for a family session and it was truly a pleasure to spend a November morning with this family.
Let’s get one thing straight: you’ve never met a little girl with as much personality as Tillie! She is an absolute doll. She showed off her two bottom teeth with endless smiles and only got fussy the last few moments of the session. Megan and Kyle are just crazy about their daughter and it shows in every image of this session!
