Local pregnancy medical clinic celebrates new executive director with a fun photo session!
A few weeks ago, a sweet friend of mine from PACN, a local non-profit organization, asked if I could help with photos of the executive director and staff. They were under a tight deadline and needed the images within a day.
Normally unexpected requests like this can be a challenge to accommodate since it’s hard to find last-minute care for my kids. Luckily my husband had the next morning off anyway – and I was thrilled to visit dear friends who are very close to my heart.
Such a special place
This isn’t just any non-profit. Some of the most wonderful women and men I’ve ever met work or volunteer at PACN, many of whom have dedicated years to serving women during pregnancy and up through the baby’s first year of life. I started volunteering here in 2007, until I joined the staff full-time in 2011. I called both of their north Houston locations my homes-away-from-home until 2014.
There are so many happy memories from my time at PACN. These ladies counted down the days till my wedding with me (and celebrated by only calling me “Mrs. Bean” when I came back to work after my honeymoon). They cried happy tears with me when I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter, and threw two of the most amazing baby showers to help me prepare for motherhood.
So, when they ask for my help, nothing makes me happier than to assist!
Photographing Bonnie in action
This particular request was simple: they needed photos of executive director Bonnie Thompson in action – interacting with staff, leading discussions and running the show. I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting her since I worked at PACN under the previous executive director. It was wonderful to spend time getting to know Bonnie.
We photographed Bonnie during a meeting with staff, including two of my favorite people – Woodlands center director Karen Gould and Donations Relations Manager Mary Cortez. I also met their newest RN, Julie, who just so happened to be starting her second day of work!
Sweet memories
It was so wonderful to be back at my old office, chatting with my former co-workers, many of whom I cherish as dear friends. You can see the joyfulness and dedication each of these women bring daily to PACN in these images.
After being active with pregnancy medical centers like PACN since I was a student at Texas A&M, it’s practically in my blood to serve at an organization like this. I took a break from working and volunteering with PACN for several months while I was busy with my own baby girls.
In 2016, I teamed up with them as their volunteer photographer, donating my time and talent to PACN’s pregnant mamas and families with brand new babies. In the two years since I started offering maternity and newborn photography through PACN, I’ve worked with dozens of mamas-to-be and their newborns. It’s my own little ministry and a way to give back to an organization that has blessed me so tremendously.
If you’re looking for a place to donate gently used maternity or baby clothes, or even get involved as a volunteer, you won’t find a more welcoming, cheerful place than PACN. This organization has left such a deep impression on my heart. I’m so proud to serve alongside the women and men of PACN.
