Celebrating the Bartlett family in The Woodlands as Tillie turns one!
What a joyful family photo session with the Bartletts on The Woodlands Waterway!
I met Megan and Kyle last year as they were preparing for the birth of their first baby, a sweet girl named Tillie. I worked with Megan to plan the most beautiful maternity photography session, complete with a bouquet of gorgeous cream-colored roses.
She selected a coral colored gown from my client closet, I confirmed all the details, and all we had to do was wait for the session to roll around.
Sweet Tillie had other plans, though!
Three days before her maternity session, Megan went into labor about six weeks early and welcomed a happy, healthy daughter. After a brief NICU stay, Tillie came home and we celebrated with a lovely in-home newborn photography session.
One year later
A day after she turned one, I met up with Megan, Kyle and Tillie on The Woodlands Waterway to celebrate this precious baby girl! Her adorable personality and sweetness are so visible in every single photo.
In the Bartlett family photography session, we made time for lots of family photos, in addition to several mommy and Tillie + daddy and Tillie shots. This is such a fun age to capture family photos because Tillie was a ham for the camera, and she also enjoyed the endless snuggles from her parents. I also like to include some detail shots of baby’s sweet feet, hands and chubby cheeks. With my own girls, these are the baby features I miss the most, and their tiny features change so quickly!
A relaxed family session is the best approach with a baby or young child. For me, this means lots of prompts for mom and dad to simply snuggle with their little one and not pay much attention to the camera. I include a variety of the classic shots with everyone smiling at the camera, along with lots of candid images that showcase natural connections and love between family members.

Tillie’s wardrobe changes!
It’s not uncommon for mamas to bring a few easy outfits to change kiddos into during family photo sessions. This gives you a chance to show off your baby in your favorite clothing, while adding extra variety to your photo gallery.
Tillie’s mama did such a good job of coordinating her daughter’s wardrobe, from adorable overalls to sweet patterned shorts and a cute little dress. Megan and Kyle look great too in neutral solids that don’t distract from their beautiful little girl.
The magic of The Woodlands Waterway
We couldn’t have asked for a prettier day for this sweet family photography session! This location along The Woodlands Waterway is fabulous because there are a variety of beautiful backgrounds within a short walking distance.
I’ve found that changing spots pretty frequently makes for happy kids because they don’t have a chance to get bored. Parents love it too because they have a full, vibrant photo gallery with many different looks to choose from when decorating their home with photos and selecting images for gifts.
The sweetest of memories
Megan and Kyle can forever celebrate these precious days with life with Tillie at one year old! Family sessions like this one make for some of the best memories ever.
