Cristina is awaiting the arrival of her little princess in early 2020
This sweet session celebrates mama Cristina as she waits to meet her second baby, a daughter she’s naming Aurelia. Cristina brought along her younger sister for this maternity mini and we had a wonderful time photographing this beautiful mama-to-be in The Woodlands!
Radiant in pink!
Cristina’s long-sleeved pink maxi dress flattered her curves in all the right ways. She paired her maxi with nude heels, silver jewelry and white nails, which was such a sophisticated look for her second pregnancy. Her long curls are also gorgeous! I loved how Cristina’s simple, elegant hairstyle allowed us to change upĀ her look by switching up the placement of her hair.
She also went all-out with her makeup – her eye lashes are incredible. While her overall look is soft and romantic, her eye makeup adds the slightest touch of drama, and it worked amazingly well!
Sunny, chilly Sunday mini session
This time of year is my favorite for maternity sessions because the weather is much more agreeable for expectant mamas! Cristina’s sleeves kept her comfy enough to not need a jacket despite a temperature in the mid-50s, with a slight breeze. The occasional wind gives her dress a little movement, which is always beautiful for maternity sessions.
My biggest priority for this mini session was giving Cristina the maximum number of images with the biggest variety we could squeeze in 30 minutes! That’s one reason why I love this spot in The Woodlands: there are so many options for pretty backdrops without having to do much walking.
With a baby girl on the way, of course we snapped a few shots by the blooming pink knockout roses. They perfectly compliment mama’s pink dress.
Baby #2 for Cristina
I love photographing first-time mamas because everything is new and a little mysterious to them. With your first baby, you’re not sure what to expect from the remainder of pregnancy; labor and delivery are complete unknowns. I find that most mamas who are pregnant the first time haven’t thought too far ahead of delivery; they’re just anxious to meet their babies.
But mamas who are pregnant again, after already having at least one kiddo at home, are more relaxed in general about pregnancy; it often seems like they savor pregnancy more deeply.
That was certainly the case with Cristina, who has a nine-year-old son at home as she waits to meet her daughter. She never had the opportunity for maternity portraits the first time around, so it was a real treat to work with her.
She has the usual concerns about expecting baby #2, like how to juggle two kids and what it will be like for her son to meet her baby. Fortunately, her firstborn is old enough to be a big help when his little sister comes home from the hospital!
Are you ready to plan your own magical maternity session? All you have to do is tell me when you’re due and I’ll take it from there!
